| Reviewed by | ndial | Misadventures Of Flink is a 2D platform game developed by Psygnosis reliant on the, then still fairly, new CD-ROM media to store larger levels, highly detailed graphics and atmospheric CD music. STORY / GAMEPLAY A wizard called Wicked Wainwright has captured the four elders of the tribe and it is up to the skillful apprentice Flink, to set them free and defeat the wizard once and for all. Flink can make and use spells to defeat every enemy. There are ten different spells and their recipes are contained inside scrolls granted to Flink by rescuing elders or by spotting them within specific levels. Misadventures Of Flink is a fantasy, arcade platform game with very distinctive graphics programmed by the same team behind Lomax Adventures on PlayStation and the excellent LionHeart on the Amiga home computers. Apart from jumping onto platforms, avoiding deadly pits and killing enemies, the gameplay also features some mild puzzle elements.
GRAPHICS / SOUND The game does not showcase or push the AGA chipset since it's a game that would easily run on an original ECS/OCS chipset if there was enough system memory to do so. Just have a look at the Sega Mega Drive version which is exactly the same (with up to 64 colors on-screen). Nevertheless, the game has great graphics and animation and the sound is equally good, featuring CD-audio quality game music (or sound effects only). Note that the Amiga CD32 version is noticeably inferior to the Mega-CD version because it lacks the Mega-CD exclusive intro sequences, a layer of parallax scrolling at the foreground and the animated clouds inside the progress map! Compared to the Sega Mega Drive (cartridge) version, Flink on the CD32 has at least way better music.
